fathers & sons (kinda)

Ben told Griffin he would take him camping at the ward fathers & sons this year. He talked it up for weeks and they even bought sleeping bags. When it came down to it Ben didn't really want to go. He can't handle camping and wonders why anyone would want to "sleep and wake up in the dirt." So thankfully Griffin was satisfied with a home camp-out that we made seem way cooler than it was. We did a little fire pit out in the yard and made treats. We told scary stories around the campfire (which was really Griffin wondering a lot about coyotes for some reason). He seemed so old just hanging out late at night with Ben and I. Then we went in and made a little tent in Griffins room so the boys could sleep in their sleeping bags. They had flashlights and told more stories and read books. After about 20 mins Griffin just wanted to get in his bed. Thankfully we were at home and Ben wasn't in the wilderness with a bunch of kids so we could make that happen. It was such a fun night with my 2 little guys and I'm glad they didn't go so I could be included in the fun.

Buzzy turns one

My baby turned one! It seems just like yesterday that he was born. He's just growing up way too fast for my liking. We wanted to throw a little party for him but decided to keep it really simple. I went with the "Hungry Caterpillar" book theme. He loves that book and I thought it was perfect for a spring birthday. We had some friends over for cake pops and ice cream and opened some presents. He loved all the attention and loved eating his cake once he got started. It was a perfect little celebration for my little guy. He really is the apple of my eye. Everything he does is adorable and amazing to me.
I don't want him to get even a day older.

SoCal Ragnar 2012

Ragnar 2012 was amazingly fun this year
We had a great team and all had so much fun together.
I was a little iffy about doing it since I was still feeding Grey and feeling lazy, but I'm SO glad I did it.
The first day was hella hot and people were having heat strokes left and right and being hauled off by ambulances (no joke) but our team held strong. After our first runs we had a delish dinner and then did some shopping before hitting a movie. Our 2nd legs were in the middle of the night be we all were in love with them. It was cool and peaceful and we all had a great run. We took a short sleep at Brookes house and then headed out for our last runs. My last leg was 11 miles from SeaWorld down through the SD harbor on the boardwalk. It was really long but a fun run.
I just LOVE all these ladies and am so grateful to have fun friends that want to do fun things. When possible I will always be a part of team "Stay Classy San Diego"

This might be one of my favorite pictures from weekend. Gotta love chels. Out of ALL the places she could choose to take a nap she chose the tiny space at the base of a huge statue on the cement. Thats one smart lady and thats why I love her so much. When she gets tired she can't function and its hilarious.

I don't know why this picture makes me laugh but it does

Till next year ladies...

"syrup"

Our friend Emily recently brought her horse to Carlsbad from OR to live.  Ben calls him "Syrup" for some reason to tease Emily. His real name is Imp which is short for something...I can't remember. Anywho, he's a big nice old horse and the kids love grooming and riding him around. Griffin is actually very at ease on a horse and is kind of a natural little cowboy. Maybe because his middle name is Wyatt?

sunday rock band

A few weeks ago after church Griffin spotted these drums in the back of our closet and really wanted to play. We hooked it all up and the boys had lots of fun. Griffin was actually pretty good on the drums (it was hilarious that he liked using the foot pedal) and Grey was interested in playing the guitar. Maybe these two will be in a band together someday?

he wanted a new
pair of
"schweats"
The easter bunny came through and he hasn't taken them off since unfortunately

little Grey and his basket. He loved the plastic eggs and goldfish he found inside. Poor guy fell down the stairs a few days before and has a nice shiner to show for it.
